About this worksheet

Each sheet contains 12, 16 or 20 problems (your choice) and is generated at random. Press “New problems” as many times as you like; there is no limit and no account needed.

Worked example

 3450
  1. 3 goes into 4 1 time: 1 × 3 = 3, and 4 − 3 = 1. Bring down the 5 to make 15.
  2. 3 goes into 15 5 times: 5 × 3 = 15, and 15 − 15 = 0. Bring down the 0 to make 0.
  3. 3 goes into 0 0 times: 0 × 3 = 0, and 0 − 0 = 0.
  4. Nothing is left over: the answer is 150.
  5. Check: 150 × 3 = 450.

Answer: 150

Teaching tips

  • Write the four steps (divide, multiply, subtract, bring down) at the top of the page.
  • Check with multiplication: quotient × divisor = dividend.
